Included below is a screen capture of a landuse file (actually named L_nameofHUC.shp) in ArcView along with its associated .dbf file showing the type of data included in each polygon.
The power of having the landuse data in shapefile format is that they can be immediately manipulated in ArcView and then imported into WMS. WMS will automatically map the LU Code field to be used in the generation of a CN. One example would be clipping the landuse layer determined from comparing it with another properly registered image layer. This might be necessary when the region of analysis crosses over the predefined HUC watersheds in the EPA data. Since the "core" data must be extracted based on the predefined watersheds, some geoprocessing in ArcView might be required. Click on the image to go to the BASINS data dowload page.
