Managing Attributes

There are several different parameters used by the various hydrologic models supported in WMS, including CN, lag time, runoff coefficient, rainfall, and others. If these parameters are not part of your existing database you may create and edit them using the Attributes… dialog shown in Figure 1. You specify attributes for creation by first selecting either Basin, Stream, or Outlet attributes from the drop-down combo box at the top of the dialog. The appropriate set of attribute check boxes will then be highlighted and you can choose the attributes you wish to create by selecting the desired check boxes. Attributes are created by selecting the Create button.

Once you have created Attributes for your basin, stream, or outlet themes you can edit their values by selecting the Edit button and using the Edit Attributes dialog shown in Figure 2.

If hydrologic parameters are already stored as part of the basin, stream, or outlet shape files before you begin work in WMS-Hydro, you will still need to "map" them by selecting the Map button. The Map Attributes dialog, shown in Figure 3, allows you to choose item names in your .dbf file and "map" them to the corresponding variable name used by WMS.
