Images include maps and photographs. WMS uses images to ensure that hydrologic features such as rivers are topologically correct (i.e., placed in the correct location with respect to other features). Images are also used for on-screen digitizing of contour lines (for TIN creation), streams, and other features. They also provide a nice backdrop to the model for watershed visualization and presentations.
